Experience
Helen’s healthcare career began in her teenage years, working parttime as a cleaner in a nursing home. This early exposure to care environments sparked a lifelong commitment to supporting others. Throughout her adult life, she continued to work in health and social care roles alongside raising a family, studying, and working in other industries. Her experience spans domiciliary care, residential and nursing homes, supported living services, and neuropsychiatric wards, supporting older adults, children, people with learning disabilities, and individuals with complex mental health needs. Across all roles, helping people has remained her core motivation.
In 2012, Helen returned to university to study Occupational Therapy—an ideal career choice that allowed her to work holistically across the lifespan and build upon her extensive care background. During her time with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, she further developed her specialist skills by completing Sensory Integration practitioner training and ADOS assessor training. These qualifications strengthened her clinical expertise and deepened her interest in neurodevelopmental conditions, sensory processing, and autism assessment.
