Rapid Results

When you are worried about possible autism, long waiting lists can feel exhausting. Oxford CBT offers initial screening within 7 days so you can start the process quickly and feel confident that you are on the right track rather than waiting weeks or months for answers.

Early screening means you can move more quickly towards a full assessment, diagnosis and support if needed.

Every assessment is carried out by accredited autism specialists, so you can feel confident you are working with experienced clinicians who understand autistic adults, teenagers and children.

Unlike services that may rely on less experienced assessors, you receive skilled, thoughtful input that supports a clear and reliable diagnosis.

Plus, thanks to our clinician matching you’ll be paired with a specialist best suited to your needs.

Our autism assessments use gold standard tools such as ADOS 2, ADI-R informed and a detailed developmental history, alongside structured questionnaires.

This means your diagnosis is not based on a brief conversation but on a thorough, evidence based process that looks at behaviour, history and current functioning.

You can feel confident that important details have been explored and documented.

Autism affects life at home, at school, at work and in social settings, so we gather information from the people who know you or your child best, for example family members and school where appropriate.

Bringing these perspectives together helps us build a full picture of strengths and challenges and reduces the risk of missing important day to day difficulties.

Every assessment is discussed within the wider Oxford CBT clinical team so your diagnosis benefits from several professional viewpoints.

This team based approach reduces the chances of error and supports careful decision making, especially in more complex presentations.

You receive a clear, detailed report that goes beyond a simple yes or no diagnosis.

It includes practical, personalised recommendations for home, school, work and emotional wellbeing so that you, your family and other professionals know how best to offer support.

We do not send a report and leave you to interpret it on your own.

You will have a dedicated feedback session with your clinician to talk through the findings, ask questions and agree on next steps together.

This helps you leave the process feeling informed, supported and clear about what to do next.

Support does not stop at diagnosis. Oxford CBT offers a full aftercare pathway that can include adapted CBT, skills based work, coaching and advocacy.

We can help with school or workplace adjustments, letters and reports, and therapy for related difficulties such as anxiety, low mood or burnout.

You have access to continuing care in one place rather than being left to search for help on your own.

With our secure online portal, you’ll always have easy access to your reports, session notes, and communication with your clinician. It’s your secure care hub for treatment plans, documents, reminders, communication, and progress tracking.

No lost paperwork, no chasing. Just everything in one safe place.

It’s simple, secure, and designed to make your care more convenient.

We understand that assessment and support are an investment, so we offer flexible payment options and clear packages that combine autism assessment with CBT or skills based sessions.

This helps you plan costs in advance and ensures there is a structured pathway into support rather than a one off assessment.

From your first screening, to comprehensive assessment, feedback and therapy, your care is continuous and coordinated. This joined-up pathway means you won’t fall through the cracks or feel left on your own after diagnosis.

You’ll know exactly where you are and what comes next at every step.

Our autism assessments fully follow NHS and NICE guidelines. This means your diagnosis and report are more likely to be recognised by other healthcare providers, schools, universities and workplaces.

You gain a document that carries weight in settings where formal evidence is required.

This gives you peace of mind that your report will carry weight wherever it’s needed.

Autism often sits alongside other conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression or trauma.

Oxford CBT can assess and support these additional needs, providing a whole person approach rather than focusing on autism in isolation.

This helps ensure that all aspects of your wellbeing are considered in your care plan.

What is Autism?

Autism is a lifelong condition that affects every individual differently. With the right understanding and tailored support, people on the autism spectrum can harness their strengths, achieve their potential, and manage their daily challenges more effectively.

Are You Considering A Private Autism Assessments or ASD Tests for Your Child?

People on the autism spectrum will often see, hear, feel and experience the world differently from other people.  While autistic people share certain differences and challenges, autism (ASD) affects individuals uniquely. Testing and autism diagnosis is the first, crucial step in ensuring your child’s needs are understood and receives tailored help and support going forwards.

Three Primary Benefits to Parents of Autism Spectrum Disorder Testing And Assessment:

What To Expect At Your Initial Autism Consultation At Oxford CBT

All testing and diagnosis begin with an initial 60 – minute consultation between parents, your child and an Oxford CBT Clinical Psychologist. During that session, your psychologist will work to understand your concerns as parents while also observing your child’s interaction, communication and behaviour. Your clinician will also use the time to gather information relevant to your child’s medical history and ongoing health. They will also screen your child’s mental health for symptoms for anxiety and low mood.

After your initial consultation, your Oxford CBT clinician will confirm if there are sufficient signs or symptoms for a full assessment to recommend further exploration and/or testing and on the right path. The psychologist will also formalise these preliminary findings in a report and email it to parents.

If traits of Autism Spectrum Disorder are identified, further assessments will be recommended and scheduled.

Examples of common autism spectrum disorder tests include:

To begin the process we offer a ‘Screening Consultation’ before a full assessment. Meet with one of our specialist clinicians to review your concerns, screen for the common signs of Autism and ADHD and get an overview of your current situation. Importantly, this ensures we put you on the right path in terms of your assessment plan, signposting or recommendations for further support. Reach out to us today to easily schedule your Screening appointment by calling us on 01865920077 or clicking below.

**We provide Autism Assessment for 7+ years and for ADHD 7+ years.

A Brief Overview Of Autism Spectrum Disorder Testing in Oxfordshire

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) testing begins with feedback on your child’s behaviour in multiple environments, including at home, school and from other professionals. Typically, we achieve this by asking parents and teachers (or other appropriate individuals) to complete one or more diagnostic assessment surveys. These are important tools, as they help identify whether your son or daughter demonstrates similar behaviours in more than one setting. If a full assessment is recommended we will complete a developmental history, functional assessment (ADOS) and a diagnostic interview.

Diagnostic Report And Follow Up

Once all information has been received, a report will then be completed and sent to parents. Oxford CBT will also schedule time with you to explain the report and provide practical recommendations for moving forward. These recommendations usually include a block of sessions with a therapist.
