Oxford CBT has supported over 5,000 people with their mental well-being in the last decade.

Therapy clinic, Oxford CBT, based in Headington, is celebrating 10 years of supporting Oxfordshire’s mental wellbeing. The clinic offers cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other types of therapies that help people make positive changes and feel more fulfilled.

Tom Murfitt set up Oxford CBT in 2013 by in response to an increasing demand for fast and flexible access to quality therapy. Since then, the service has grown significantly with a team of expert therapists and two clinics in Oxford and Birmingham.

As well as growing the team, the clinic has also expanded its services over the last decade. Oxford CBT now works with adults, children and businesses in Oxfordshire and beyond and has supported over 2,250 people in the past five years alone.

It offers a range of evidence-based therapies including CBT, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioural therapy for eating disorders and autism and ADHD assessments.

Oxford CBT also helps businesses support their staff’s mental health, to improve productivity and reduce absences. It provides corporate therapy, work wellbeing and coaching for businesses and mental health first aid training. It is the only independent private mental health clinic in Oxfordshire offering this range of services.

Oxford CBT celebrated its tenth birthday and mental health awareness month in May. Hosting a special open evening at the clinic, welcoming staff, clients, and the community.

“It’s a myth that you only need therapy when you are really struggling – everyone will experience difficulties or lack of purpose – and therapy can be beneficial for so many people. Our aim is to help clients build the tools they need to navigate life, embrace challenges, and ultimately improve their wellbeing.”

“The clinic was set up in 2013 because there was a real need for accessible therapy in Oxford. Over the last 10 years we have seen mental health become more talked about and discussed, which is wonderful, but there’s still more work to be done. Therapy can be life changing and it’s been incredible to be a part of so many people’s journeys over the last decade.”
