What Started Ellen On The Path Of Becoming a CB Therapist

  • Ellen has had a passion and interest in mental health ever since secondary school. She has always seen herself working in a care profession; but her early life experiences, and exposure to mental health early on led her to want to pursue a career in delivering therapy.
  • Following her first degree in Psychology and Counselling at University, she realised she was following the right path, and her passion in this area grew and grew. This led to her completing a Masters in Integrative Counselling, and beginning to work for a counselling service, delivering therapy to young people.
  • Ellen became more aware of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy when she was working as an Integrative Counsellor. There were many young people she worked with, who she recognised would have benefited from an evidence-based intervention such as CBT. This then led to Ellen beginning her journey in becoming a CBT therapist by completing a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at the University of Reading, in addition to working for CAMHS in the NHS.
